Dealing with acne can feel like an uphill battle.
You can use all-natural makeup, wash your face every night and moisturize regularly, but sometimes the face just don’t wanna listen.
Chief among the army of defiant acne is the notorious blackhead.
These little stinkers will camp out on your T-zone rain or shine.
Blackheads:
You:
I did a little looking to find out what the dealio is with those pore strips you can buy in stores and found that they can cause damage to the capillaries in your face when used regularly over time.
Capillaries are micro blood vessels that, once ruptured or damaged, appear as tiny, visible red lines just under the surface of your skin.
Not cool, pore strip, not cool.
Plus it hurts to use them. Just saying.
*Bright side* there is a super simple DIY to remove blackheads naturally without all the pain and capillary bustin’.
Here’s what you’ll need:
2 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp honey
*this made enough for me and my husband to each do a treatment, you may use a half batch for just one person*
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Mix the two well to form a thick paste.
2. Leave on your face for about 15-20 minutes.
*We felt some slight tingling after about 5 minutes or so, that is normal. If the tingling sensation becomes painful or overwhelming, remove immediately and cease application*
3. Remove using a wash cloth dampened with warm water.
My bearded wonder was very pleased that there was such a noticeable and immediate difference after using this treatment. Very rarely can you actually see a change after first use (DIY or otherwise).
Here’s the best part:
a 14-pack of pore strips is about $6.50 at the store (roughly $0.46 per strip)
4 lb baking soda = $2.50
this recipe: $0.04
24 oz honey $5.98
this recipe: $0.25
TOTAL: $0.29 (if you’re making a half batch for just one person, it would only be $0.15!)
I’m interested to know if anyone else has tried this or any other homemade remedies for blackheads before, how did it turn out for you? Do you have any other good DIY facial tips? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time, cheers!
They are not homemade but they are natural and used by the japanese it’s the cocoon made by worms, dried and bleached with one side cut so you can put your finger in and use the cocoon to gently exfoliate. It helps a lot.

What a cool approach. I should look into this. At nearly 40, I never thought I would still have to deal with the occasional unsightly zit.

The determination and stubbornness with which these blemishes cling to our bodies is almost impressive. Almost.
