I love blogs. You don’t open yourself up to the world by publishing your own creations out here on the big, bad internet when you’re indifferent to blogs. (a la Lorelei Gilmore, anyone?)

The thing is, I grew up in SoCal suburbia, we are but simple, slightly beachy folks. When I moved to the great Pacific Northwest (Portland, to be exact) my horizons were broadened and I learned of a whole new world to explore. I’m talking about the world of DIYing and food blogging.

Danielle SelfieI am completely dedicated to recipes and projects for the everyman. I love the idea that people without the Barefoot Contessa’s budget and ingredients or Martha Stewart’s skills and supplies can still produce products that make their lives a little more simple and a little more scrumptious.

Until I started doing my own research into the components in these projects, I didn’t realize that there is a lot you can make when you’ve got a solid, simple foundation and a can-do attitude. Not that some of my projects aren’t just a combination of dumb-luck and happy mistakes, but you get the idea. DIYing and home-cooked meals aren’t just for those fabulous bloggers whom we admire because they have perfect hair and never straight up drop their flour mixture on the ground (the two are definitely related, I can assure you).

I invite you to read along and get your hands a little dirty too as I figure out different ways for us all to save a little money, simplify our lives and laugh a lot along the way.

Cheers!

Danielle
