#Tasty Tuesday: Boston Cream Poke Cake

Here’s a couple fun facts about our family:
We celebrate birthdays with pie rather than birthday cakes and we had pie at our wedding rather than the traditional tiered cake.
CoincidenceIThinkNot
We actually prefer pie to cake. There. I said it.

Our only exception to this is the dark horse of the sweets section: the Boston Cream “Pie” (spoiler alert: its cake).
The combination of cake, pudding and chocolate frosting make for a cool, moist bite every time and that is why it far surpasses its confectionary companions.
The only downside is that its kind of a pain in the keister to make.
You have to make two round cakes and keeping all the yummy pudding filling from spilling out of the sides is kind of like keeping cats from the thug life.

  1. Fancy! Our family doesn’t really like cake, either. It’s often dry. And, most of us don’t eat gluten or at least grains. My sister-in-law requested this delicious chocolate flourless cake I’ve made at holidays before, for her birthday last weekend: http://ameessavorydish.com/paleo-flourless-chocolate-cake/. I make it with 50% dark chocolate chips and omit the maple syrup since it’s already super sweet!

Mmm…pie. I like cake, but prefer cupcakes to cakes because of the cake-to-icing ratio 😉 I do love a good Boston Cream Pie, too!
